What a mirror is, and what it is not

A mirror here is an entry point, nothing more. Behind every address the same hidden service answers: the same database, the same escrow balances, the same feedback threads, the same vendor storefronts. Your account is not attached to an address. Skip the clearnet proxies

You can reach an onion address through a clearnet gateway, the .onion.to and .onion.watch style sites and their tor2web cousins. They are convenient, and they are exactly as safe as they sound: the gateway sits between you and the market and can read and rewrite the entire conversation, both directions, while you type your password into it. For a quick look at a storefront, fine. For a login, a password change, or a payout, the gateway has just become part of your security setup, with an interest rate you did not agree to.

Why there are three, not one
