The market will not load. It probably is not down.
The four checks below exist for the moment the circle stops moving and the conclusion writes itself. The market is down. Everything is lost. The orders are gone. The wallet is gone. Stop. Forums will call that minute by three names: Awazon Market down, Awazon Market not working, Awazon Market not loading. All three are the same question. An onion address has no status dot, no percentage, no timestamp, so the answer is not a read, it is a check list, and the list below takes less than ten minutes in total.
Why a status dot would lie to you
Imagine the page you are not on, the one with the green dot next to each address. The dot describes one probe, from one machine, through one circuit, at one moment, and the moment has passed by the time you read it. Your circuit is built fresh the second you click. The network between you and the entry point is not the network the probe used, and the load the market carried then is not the load it carries now. A dot next to an onion is a photograph of someone else’s road. The only test that counts is opening the address yourself and seeing what happens, which is why the check list below is all roads, no photographs.
Check one: give it the full wait
The first load of an onion address on a fresh circuit takes one to five minutes, and a congested entry adds the access queue on top. Check two: the other two addresses
This is the check that ends most of these episodes, and it is free. The three addresses are the same market with the same account, so switching is not a fallback, it is the normal operation. One entry point can be slow, congested, or blocked for your region while another answers in under a minute. Paste the second address from the mirror page. Same login, same balance, same orders. If the second one loads and the first one still will not, nothing is down. Your first door was just the slow one, and you now know which door to use next time.
Check three: a new circuit
A Tor circuit is a one-way ticket through three relays, and any one of the three being slow makes the whole ride slow. When an address drags past the polite wait, the fix is a fresh circuit, and Tor Browser makes it a menu item: the onion icon in the address bar offers a new circuit for that specific site, and a reload after it builds the ride again. This is the difference between a bad road and a closed road. A new circuit fixes the bad road. The closed road needs check two, because the problem is at the destination, not in your route to it.
Check four: a second network
If all three addresses drag on the same machine and the same network, the suspect stops being the market and starts being the network between the two. Corporate and school networks block or throttle Tor connections without announcing it, phone plans vary wildly by carrier, and a firewall that was quiet yesterday is not obliged to stay quiet today. The test costs nothing: a phone off the local network, or the laptop on the phone’s hotspot. If the market loads there, the market was never down. The room you were in was.
What genuine downtime looks like
It happens, so it is worth knowing the shape. A real outage is not one address being slow; it is all three timing out on clean circuits from more than one network, at the same time, with the market’s own channels quiet or posting about it. Markets of this size have maintenance windows and entry outages, and the pattern is always the same: it starts, it is acknowledged from inside the market, and it ends, with the queue page back where it belongs. While it lasts, the important facts are two. The escrow does not move. Orders, balances, and disputes are held in the same database that is temporarily hard to reach, and none of it is processed, lost, or reset by an entry point going quiet. When the market comes back, the order page looks exactly like it did before, including the parts that were mid-sentence.
What a real outage is not: a clearnet proxy timing out. A gateway that cannot reach the entry node tells you about the gateway’s road, and the market is not on that road. Judge the market through Tor, or do not judge it at all.
